RVD’s Participation in the Fight against the Epidemic
In view of severity of the fifth wave of the epidemic and in support of the Chief Executive’s call for racing against time and working in concert to fight the virus, the Rating and Valuation Department (RVD) has spared no effort in mobilising our staff to undertake various anti-epidemic work.
Setting up registration counters and testing booths to get ready for operation
Distributing food packs, rapid antigen test kits and anti-epidemic proprietary Chinese medicines donated by the Central Government
Crowd control and assisting residents in need
On 8 and 9 March 2022, RVD led a Restriction-testing Declaration (RTD) operation at 80-82 Broadway, Mei Foo Sun Chuen Phase 3, Lai Chi Kok. Over 90 RVD staff planned and participated in this overnight operation, handling a whole range of duties, including setting up and operating the registration counters, designated enquiry hotline and testing booths; conducting home visits; and transferring residents with positive test results and their close contacts to hospital or quarantine centres, etc. With the residents’ cooperation and concerted efforts of RVD staff, other departments concerned and contractors, we successfully completed the operation in the early afternoon of 9 March, resulting in the identification of 52 cases with preliminarily positive test results among over 700 people undergoing testing within the "restricted area".
In addition, over 50 RVD staff have been deployed to work at the Contact Tracing Offices since February 2022 to help out in the contact tracing work. With RVD staff’s dedication to serving the community and resilience to work under pressure and overcome the difficulties, together with the solidarity of relevant stakeholders in fighting the epidemic, we are confident that we could play a part in this fight against the virus and rise to the challenges lying ahead of Hong Kong. With the interest of Hong Kong in mind, we at RVD will continue to strive our best in contributing to the anti-epidemic work.
