Rates Concession
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2024-2025
Rates concession will be given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the first quarter from April to June 2024, subject to a ceiling of $1,000 for each rateable tenement.
No payment will be required for the quarter if the quarterly rates payable do not exceed the corresponding rates concession ceiling. No rates concession will be offered for the following three quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2023-2024
Rates concession was given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the two quarters, April to June 2023 and July to September 2023, subject to a ceiling of $1,000 per quarter for each rateable tenement.
No payment will be required for the quarter if the quarterly rates payable do not exceed the corresponding rates concession ceiling. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2022-2023
Rates concession will be given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for four quarters from April 2022 to March 2023. For each domestic rateable tenement, the ceiling will be $1,500 per quarter for the first two quarters (April 2022 to September 2022) and $1,000 per quarter for the following two quarters (October 2022 to March 2023). For each non-domestic rateable tenement, the ceiling will be $5,000 per quarter for the first two quarters (April 2022 to September 2022) and $2,000 per quarter for the following two quarters (October 2022 to March 2023). No payment will be required for the quarter if the quarterly rates payable do not exceed the corresponding rates concession ceiling.
Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2021-2022
Rates concession will be given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for four quarters from April 2021 to March 2022. For each domestic rateable tenement, the ceiling will be $1,500 per quarter for the first two quarters (April 2021 to September 2021) and $1,000 per quarter for the following two quarters (October 2021 to March 2022). For each non-domestic rateable tenement, the ceiling will be $5,000 per quarter for the first two quarters (April 2021 to September 2021) and $2,000 per quarter for the following two quarters (October 2021 to March 2022). No payment will be required for the quarter if the quarterly rates payable do not exceed the corresponding rates concession ceiling.
Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2020-2021
Rates concession will be given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for four quarters from April 2020 to March 2021, subject to a ceiling of $1,500 per quarter for each domestic rateable tenement. For each non-domestic rateable tenement, the ceiling will be $5,000 per quarter for the first two quarters (April 2020 to September 2020) and $1,500 per quarter for the following two quarters (October 2020 to March 2021). No payment will be required for the quarter if the quarterly rates payable do not exceed the corresponding rates concession ceiling.
The Government announced on 16 September 2020 to provide an enhanced rates concession in the third and fourth quarters 2020-21 (i.e. 1 October to 31 December 2020 and 1 January to 31 March 2021) to all non-domestic tenements. The concession ceiling for each non-domestic rateable tenement chargeable to rates would be increased from $1,500 to $5,000 for that quarter.
Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2019-2020
Rates concession was given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the four quarters from April 2019 to March 2020, subject to a ceiling of $1,500 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter.
The Financial Secretary announced on 4 December 2019 to provide an enhanced rates concession in the fourth quarter 2019-20 (i.e. 1 January to 31 March 2020) to all non-domestic properties. The concession ceiling for each non-domestic property chargeable to rates would be increased from $1,500 to $5,000 for that quarter.
Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2018-2019
Rates concession was given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the four quarters from April 2018 to March 2019, subject to a ceiling of $2,500 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2017-2018
Rates concession was given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the four quarters from April 2017 to March 2018, subject to a ceiling of $1,000 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.

Rates concession was given to all ratepayers to offset the rates payable for the four quarters from April 2010 to March 2011, subject to a ceiling of $1,500 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2009-2010
Rates concession was given to offset the rates payable for the two quarters, April to June 2009 and July to September 2009, subject to a ceiling of $1,500 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
The Financial Secretary announced on 26 May 2009 a new round of relief measures which included extending the rates concession for two more quarters, October to December 2009 and January to March 2010, subject to a ceiling of $1,500 per quarter for each rateable tenement. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.

Rates concession was given to offset the rates payable for the four quarters from April 2008 to March 2009, subject to a ceiling of $5,000 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
Rates Concession for the Financial Year 2007-2008
Rates concession was given to offset the rates payable for the April to September 2007 and January to March 2008 quarters, subject to a ceiling of $5,000 per quarter for each rateable tenement. For properties liable to rates for part of a quarter, the ceiling would be adjusted in proportion to that partial period in the corresponding quarter. Any unused portion of the concession in each quarter could not be used to offset the outstanding rates in any other quarters.
